YPF: an effective Parliamentary Forum to further the cause of democracy in country: MNA/President YPF Syed Ali Musa Gillani; Tackling Climate disasters and Fake news Propaganda key concern of YPF: President YPF

Islamabad: 23rd November 2022; MNA Syed Ali Musa Gillani President of Young Parliamentary Forum (YPF) said, “keeping in context the substantial young population, YPF has become an effective tool to further the cause of strengthening democratic norms in the country.” He also said that YPF has become a platform where young Parliamentarians can legislate especially for youth and it can be an effective tool to strengthen democratic institutions. He said that this Parliamentary Forum need to develop tangible goals in this workshop especially to enhance Parliamentary coordination among parliaments of worlds. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural Session of Round table Discussion with Young Parliamentarians on "Parliamentary Diplomacy as a tool of strengthening Democratic Institutions" organized in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and National Dialogue Forum (NDF) in Parliament House today.
 
Mr. Steffen Kudella, President Hanns Foundation expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly Secretariat for successfully organizing this Dialogue. He said that Pakistan and German Parliaments have wide room for coordinating especially in legislating for addressing the challenges faced by the young population. He also said that German people and government are with people of Pakistan who have been facing the scourge of devastating floods

Mr. Sheryar Khan Executive Director National Dialogue Forum also appreciated the cooperation offered by the National Assembly Secretariat to organise this round table conference.
 
The round table dialogue deliberated upon destruction of devastating floods on the quality of human life especially the sufferings of women and children due to flash floods.  Other topics which were discussed in detail were to enhance parliamentary cooperation on climate change and adaptation in the wake of recent floods situation in Pakistan, legislative capacity building and common challenges faced by Young Parliamentarians were also discussed in detail.

Syed Shamoon Hashmi Additional Secretary (SI) National Assembly Secretariat briefed the participants regarding goals of YPF and its importance to support legislative initiatives in Parliament. He also briefed the participants regarding the need of developing tangible goals of YPF. He also said that the Pakistan parliament has been successful in Climate Diplomacy and climate justice. He also briefed the YPF participants on the need for effective legislation for tackling fake news propaganda.

The round table conference was attended by Senators Ms. Sana Jamali and Mr. Umur Farooq, MNAs Ms. Romina Khursheed, Ms. Syeda Nosheen Iftekhar, Ms. Aliya Kamran, Mr. Naveed Aamir Jeeva, Mr. Iradat Sharif and Researchers from diverse areas.
